Summary: | The COVID-19 pandemic has caused an unprecedented downfall in passenger traffic going through Bogotá's El Dorado International Airport. In the face of such uncertainty, it is useful to develop prediction models and possible future demand scenarios. This thesis project seeks to understand what determines Bogotá's demand behavior and what could this demand look like in the future. To fulfill the proposed objectives a demand regression model, using macroeconomic and demographic data time series, and scenarios for demand and the chosen variables were constructed. It was determined that there are three variables which carry more influence over the demand's behavior: the Gross Domestic Product, the population, and the Retail Commerce Index of Bogotá. This study concludes that the passenger demand will return to pre-pandemic levels, and it presents its possible growth trends. |
