description The present research aims to identify the soft skills and behaviors that characterize teacher leadership, for which it develops three phases. The second phase is advanced from the methodology of phenomenology, conducting semi-structured interviews with teachers who have achieved important performances in their work and who have been awarded for excellence in their role; In support of phenomenology, the organizational theory of critical incidents is used. The third phase comprises the analysis and triangulation of the information obtained in the different sources. The research does not find a clear identification in the international literature of the skills and behaviors necessary for the exercise of teaching leadership. La primera fase se realiza desde dos componentes: a) una revisión sistemática de la literatura y b) un análisis documental. La segunda fase se adelanta desde la metodología de la fenomenología, realizando entrevistas semiestructuradas a maestros que han logrado desempeños importantes en su labor y que han sido galardonados por la excelencia en su rol; como apoyo a la fenomenología, se emplea la teoría organizacional de incidentes críticos. La tercera fase comprende el análisis y triangulación de la información obtenida en las diferentes fuentes. La investigación encuentra que no hay una identificación clara en la literatura internacional de las habilidades y comportamientos necesarios para el ejercicio del liderazgo del docente.
