Summary: | The Colombian film industry has seen a steady increase in revenue and number of viewers in the last ten years, selling $ 173.94 million of dollars at the box office and having an attendance of 52 million viewers in 2016 (Proimagos 2017). Likewise, the cultural sector, which includes cinematography, was declared by the 1991 constitution as one of the fundamental pillars of Colombian society (Ministry of Culture, 2017). Despite this, there is little state support to this sector and there are few investigative works on the consumption of cinema in Colombia and the national film industry. This study seeks to determine the factors that explain the frequency of film attendance in Colombia, as well as to evaluate whether, based on law 1556 of 2012 ("cinema law") there was an impact on the frequency of film attendance in Colombia. |
