Summary:Shipwrecks' findings bring come with legal disputes given their archeological, cultural interest, and due to the economic interest of their treasures. In 1708 the Galleon San Jose, Captain of Tierra Firme's Fleet, shipwrecked in the coasts of the Peru's Virreinato after being attacked by the English Empire. Thanks to the work of an American company, Colombia announces its discovery in 2015. With this announcement, Colombia and Spain started a dispute over who's the owner of the vessel and its treasure. This article seeks to analyze the main legal problems, according to international law, regarding San José property. Specifically, the text raises a classic discussion of the applicable sources of international law to determine whether Colombia or Spain are owner of the ship.--Tomado del Formato de Documento de Grado.
