Description
Summary:Political science in Colombia is a discipline that has been in constant evolution since its emergence in 1968. Currently, the academic field is undergoing a process of professionalization and autonomization that entails a clearer definition of the capitals that have value within it. The development of the discipline in Colombia has always had to be transformed to respond to the problems of an era of National Front, National Constituent Assembly and economic opening. This paper aims to answer the question of how globalization affects the academic community of political science in Colombia. The paper develops the argument that the current processes make the relationship with a transnational space of the discipline acquire more relevant characteristics for its internal processes. It proposes to demonstrate that this importance is reflected in three relationships: the acquisition of doctoral degrees abroad, the publication of scientific articles and books for a foreign community, and the participation in co-authorship networks with international scholars.
