description El cáncer se ha convertido en una de las principales causas de morbimortalidad alrededor del mundo en menores de 18 años, con aproximadamente 400.000 casos nuevos anuales, por lo que en los últimos años han cobrado una especial relevancia aquellas estrategias orientadas tanto a su diagnóstico de forma temprana como a un tratamiento adecuado, esto principalmente en países de altos ingresos; donde se ha logrado una tasa de sobrevida a cinco años mayor al 80%, sin embargo, desafortunadamente no es el caso de los países de bajos y medianos ingresos. La descripción de esos signos clínicos que orienten a este diagnóstico por parte del personal de salud de atención primaria y su reconocimiento temprano, es clave para lograr un diagnóstico oportuno. Es por esto por lo que se han creado estrategias que buscan sensibilizar y educar a aquellos profesionales encargados de realizar ese primer abordaje. Teniendo en cuenta el papel importante que juega el diagnóstico temprano en el desenlace que pueda tener cada paciente, el objetivo de este estudio era conocer el nivel de conocimiento sobre los signos de alarma de cáncer infantil en un grupo de médicos generales de una IPS de Bogotá, Colombia en el año 2024.

Primary care health personnel must describe the clinical signs that guide this diagnosis and recognize them early. This is key to achieving a timely diagnosis.
