Clinica ShaioEspecialista en Medicina del DeporteEspecializaciónIntroduction Long-distance races, such as the Bogotá Half Marathon (BHM), have gained global popularity, including in Colombia. However, these activities may be associated with significant cardiovascular risks. This study analyzes the prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors among participants of the 2023 BHM, aiming to provide relevant information for preventive and educational strategies. Materials and Methods A cross-sectional observational study was conducted with 1,593 participants of the 2023 BHM. Data were collected through virtual surveys designed in REDCap, including demographic, medical, and training history. Continuous variables were analyzed using normality tests and measures of central tendency, while categorical variables were analyzed using Chi-square tests. Results Among the participants, 58% were men and 42% were women, with a mean age of 36 years. The majority had a normal weight (69.6%), although 26.2% were overweight and 2.4% were obese. Only 25.2% of the 21 km runners and 14.6% of the 10 km runners underwent a prior medical evaluation. Dyslipidemia was the most prevalent risk factor among 21 km runners (5.4%), followed by hypertension (4.0%). Discussion/Conclusions The results highlight a low adherence to prior medical evaluations and a moderate prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors. The need to implement educational and preventive strategies focusing on pre-competition assessments and adequate training programs was identified to reduce risks among recreational runners.application/pdfAttribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 Internationalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0/Acceso abiertohttps://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2Media maratón; factores de riesgo cardiovascular; dislipidemia; hipertensión arterial; entrenamiento deportivo; evaluación precompetitiva.Half marathon, cardiovascular risk factors, dyslipidemia, hypertension, sports training, pre-competition evaluation.QT 261Factores de riesgo cardiovascular en participantes de la media maratón de Bogotá del año 2023Cardiovascular risk factors in participants of the 2023 bogotá half marathonEspecialización en Medicina del DeporteUniversidad El BosqueFacultad de MedicinaTesis/Trabajo de grado - Monografía - Especializaciónhttps://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_7a1fhttp://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_7a1finfo:eu-repo/semantics/bachelorThesishttps://purl.org/coar/version/c_ab4af688f83e57aa1.
