Catarsis es un proyecto derivado de la curiosidad y el sentimiento. La idea comenzó cuando pensé: “¿Por qué nunca se habla seriamente sobre el reggaeton en contextos académicos?”, lo que me llevó a querer experimentar con esta música. Decidí crear cuatro (4) canciones basándome en mi análisis de cinco (5) de los más importantes álbumes en la historia del reggaetón. Investigué sobre el origen del reggaetón en sí mismo para adquirir el contexto histórico necesario. Posteriormente, escuché los álbumes que escogí y analicé tantas cosas como pude de la producción, la música, las letras y la interpretación de los artistas que estos álbumes contienen. Los resultados de esta investigación y mi proceso creativo fueron incluidos en el podcast/web show El Santo Groove . Con toda esta información en mi cerebro, creé las canciones que constituyen el proyecto. El nombre del proyecto nació cuando me di cuenta de que hacer esta música con total libertad me ayudó a liberarme de muchas cosas que me han atormentado durante años, en forma de canciones y letras. Catarsis es el resultado de una investigación exhaustiva y sentimientos expuestos. |

The idea started when I thought: “Why isn’t ever discussed seriously about reggaeton in academic contexts?”, which led me to a desire to experiment with this music. I decided to create four (4) songs based on my analysis of five (5) of the most important reggaeton albums of all time. I researched the origins of reggaeton itself in order to obtain the historical context I needed. Then, I listened to the albums I selected and analysed as many things as I could from the production, music, lyrics and performance of the artists that these albums contain. The results of this research and my creative process were included in the podcast/webshow El Santo Groove (The Holy Groove). With all this information in my brain, I created the songs that constitute the project. The project’s name was born when I realized that making this music with absolute freedom helped me set myself free from many things that have tormented me for years, in the form of songs and lyrics.
