description	En la actualidad la contaminación de las fuentes hídricas es una de las problemáticas más abordadas en las agendas gubernamentales nacionales e internacionales ya que es un recurso de gran importancia para el correcto funcionamiento de los ecosistemas. El objetivo de este trabajo consistió en evaluar el potencial fitorremediador de metales pesados (Al, Cu y Cr) del Vetiver (Chrysopogon zizanioides) en la laguna de oxidación del municipio de Jerusalén (Cundinamarca). Teniendo en cuenta lo anterior se evaluó la tasa de supervivencia de las macrófitas, la acumulación de los metales pesados por medio de ICP –MS y la comparación de varios métodos para la remoción de este tipo de sustancias. Se encontró que la tasa de supervivencia de las plantas fue del 100% luego de 3 meses de tratamiento y los dos órganos vegetales (hojas y raíces) evaluados, se comportaron de manera diferente con respecto a la acumulación de cada metal, el Cr presentó mayores concentraciones en la raíz y las hojas, mientras que Al y Cu en únicamente en las hojas. Finalmente, se concluye que el Vetiver podría ser una buena alternativa para la remoción de ciertos metales pesados cuando son utilizados en sistemas como las lagunas de oxidación.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the phytoremediation potential of heavy metals (Al, Cu and Cr) of Vetiver (Chrysopogon zizanioides) in the oxidation lagoon of the municipality of Jerusalem (Cundinamarca). Taking into account the above, the survival rate of the macrophytes, the accumulation of heavy metals by means of ICP-MS and the comparison of several methods for the removal of this type of substances were evaluated. It was found that the survival rate of the plants was 100% after 3 months of treatment and the two plants organs (leaves and roots) evaluated, behaved differently with respect to the accumulation of each metal, the Cr presented higher concentrations in the root and leaves, while Al and Cu in only the leaves. Finally, it is concluded that Vetiver could be a good alternative for the removal of certain heavy metals when they are used in systems such as oxidation
