Labio y paladar hendido es una patología congénita, caracterizada por la afectación funcional y estética de los maxilares y la boca, los usos de predictores tempranos permiten predecir el grado de crecimiento facial y/o la forma y función del arco dental los cuales son relevantes para determinar el tratamiento a seguir. Describir los principales índices reportados en la literatura que determinan el grado de severidad de la maloclusión durante el desarrollo de la dentición en niños con labio y paladar hendido unilateral. Se realizó una revisión temática en diferentes bases de datos electrónicas (Medline-PUBMED, Science Direct), los términos MeSH: Cleft lip and palate, Malocclusion, Orthodontic index, Pruzansky, GOSLON Yardstick, Huddart index, Eurocran index; en idioma ingles hasta 2018. La búsqueda inicial por título arrojo 799 artículos, 35 por resumen y 26 en texto completo. Se identificaron 3 principales índices: Goslon, utilizado en dentición mixta, valora las tres relaciones oclusales anteroposterior, trasversal y bucal, Huddart es un índice de clasificación numérica usado en dentición temporal y Eurocran reúne los tres tipos de dentición y en forma adicional valora la morfología palatina en cada muestra. Los tres índices reportados en la literatura son aplicables a la dentición en desarrollo de pacientes con labio y paladar hendido unilateral, pero GOSLON es el único que toma como parámetro las tres dimensiones en la arcada determinando los diferentes grados de severidad en las mal oclusiones, es de fácil aprendizaje y aplicación. |

The use of early predictors allow to determine the degree of facial growth, shape and dental arch shape which are relevant in order to determine the treatment to be applied. To describe the principal indices reported in literature, which determine the degree of severity of the malocclusion during dentition development in children with cleft lip and palate. A thematic revision was carried out using several electronic databases (Medline, PubMed, Science Direct) and the MeSH words: cleft lip and palate, malocclusion, orthodontic index, Pruzansky, GOSLON Yardstick, Huddart index, Eurocran index, all in English up to 2018. The initial search by title yielded 799 articles, 35 by abstract and 26 from complete text. Three main Goslon indices were identified, which is used for mixed dentition and assesses the three occlusal relations: anteroposterior, transverse and oral. The Huddart index is a numerical classification used in temporary dentition and Eurcran spans the three types of dentition and assesses palate morphology in each sample.
