description This paper focuses in electoral geography, a subdiscipline of politic geography that approaches the vote from a space-time perspective of electoral results in order to respond to the search for causes that explain these results. Although electoral geography emerged as a result of the quantitative paradigm (applying techniques from Geographic Information Systems, given its character of space-time study and of multi criteria analysis), this paper embraces both qualitative and quantitative factors by relating electoral results and sociodemographic features of the studied population in Argentina. This work also proposes an analysis on the process before, during and after election day. It intends to be a contribution to academic environments of this subdiscipline and those concerned about citizenship and civic activity of the society, essential in the Latin American context.

Apesar da geografia eleitoral ter surgido a partir do paradigma quantitativo (com a aplicação de técnicas de Sistemas de Informação Geográfica, por seu caráter de estudo espaçotemporal e de análise multicritério), neste artigo coexistem o qualitativo e quantitativo, ao inter relacionar os resultados eleitorais e as características sócio demográficas da população de estudo na Argentina. De igual maneira, propõe-se uma análise do processo eleitoral antes, durante e depois do dia de eleições. Este trabalho apresentase como uma proposta de análise da geografia eleitoral e uma contribuição à difusão nos âmbitos acadêmicos, tanto desta subdisciplina, como do tema da cidadania e da atividade cívica de toda a sociedade, todos necessários no contexto latinoamericano.Este artículo se centra en la geografía electoral, subdisciplina de la geografía política que aborda el estudio del sufragio desde la perspectiva espaciotemporal de los resultados electorales, atendiendo a la búsqueda de las causas que expliquen dichos resultados. Si bien la geografía electoral surgió a partir del paradigma cuantitativo (con la aplicación de técnicas de Sistemas de Información Geográfica, por su carácter de estudio espacio-temporal y de análisis multicriterio), en este artículo coexisten lo cualitativo y cuantitativo, al interrelacionar los resultados electorales y las características sociodemográficas de la población de estudio en Argentina. Así mismo, se propone un análisis del proceso electoral antes, durante y después del día de elecciones.
