An analysis of the determinants of the configuration and reform of the systems is performed, proposing some hypothesis about the social protection systems evolution.Para realizar el análisis comparado entre los sistemas de protección social de México, Brasil y Colombia se establece como hipótesis que aquellos son parte del conjunto de los sistemas de mediación y articulación entre lo político y lo económico. Se examina la trayectoria de los sistemas de protección social en Brasil, México y Colombia, entre 1930 y 1990 y luego el período de las reformas de los años noventa.
