(Texto tomado de la fuente)Fibromyalgia is a chronic multi-symptomatic disease, characterized by the presence of chronic pain, predominantly generalized musculoskeletal, associated with somatic and psychological symptoms. It is considered that this can affect between 2 to 4% of the general population and is nine times more likely to develop in women. The World Health Organization has encouraged the use of Traditional Chinese Medicine, considered a complex medical system within which there are different techniques such as phytotherapy, electroacupuncture, cupping, moxibustion, acupuncture, among others. For decades, multiple studies have been carried out that have demonstrated its efficacy for the relief of acute and chronic pain, achieving its recognition in the United States, Canada, and Europe. In Traditional Chinese Medicine it is considered that fibromyalgia is related to the alteration in the movement of Qi, which generates a stagnation of this energy that can evolve towards blood stasis, thus generating pain. In this review it is observed that Traditional Chinese Medicine can become more effective than conventional medicine in reducing the intensity and areas of pain, and particularly in improving the quality of life.
