The models of Chile and Colombia are examined from this background and some of the lessons that can be drawn from these experiences for other countries are pointed out.Para ubicar procesos de reforma de los sistemas de salud se consideran los factores sectoriales y extra sectoriales que les dieron origen. La política del Banco Mundial operó como un factor determinante y se puso en práctica en medio de procesos que acrecentaron la inequidad en América Latina.
