(Texto tomado de la fuente),Bovine respiratory disease (BRD) causes considerable morbidity and mortality in calves, resulting in significant economic losses, characterized by a complex interaction between environmental factors, host immune status and the presence of viral and/or bacterial agents. The primary viral agents associated with BRD are bovine herpesvirus 1 (BoHV-1), bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV-1), bovine parainfluenza virus (BPIV3) and bovine respiratory syncytial virus (BRSV). The main objective of this project was the detection by RT-PCR/qPCR of the main viruses associated with BSE (BRSV, BPIV3, BoHV-1 and BVDV). For this purpose, samples of lung tissue (P) and nasal scraping (RN) were collected from calves under six months of age from dairy herds, collected at the processing plant. The results revealed a 25% positivity rate for BRSV in nasal scraping (NR) samples by PCR. For BPIV3, a positivity of 14.6% was observed by PCR and a significant increase to 41.7% by qPCR in NR samples. When lung samples were analyzed, positivity was found to be 4% by PCR and 26% by qPCR for BPIV3. In addition, the P gene of BPIV3 was sequenced and it was determined that the Colombian strain corresponds to genotype A. Histopathological evaluation identified interstitial pneumonia as the most common diagnosis. This study represents the first report of BRSV and BPIV3 in Colombia, which makes it a pioneering contribution in the academic field.
