A lo largo del tiempo, estos sistemas han tenido grandes variaciones y avances tecnológicos que permiten diseñar e implementar sistemas SAS más robustos, confiables, seguros y económicos. Uno de los grandes avances sobre los sistemas de subestaciones es la estandarización. A través del estándar IEC 61850 se ha logrado viabilizar la implementación de tecnologías de vanguardia, homologar el leguaje de los usuarios y los fabricantes, hacer los sistemas interoperables y fácilmente expandibles, con un beneficio final de reducción de costos y aumento de confiabilidad. En este trabajo se detalla este estándar, su propósito, sus partes, su aplicación y ventajas. Una de las aplicaciones de este estándar son las subestaciones digitales, que maximizan los beneficios de los sistemas; este trabajo presenta una propuesta técnico-económica de aplicación de subestación digital, en un caso real, planteando sus consideraciones técnicas, arquitectura de red de comunicaciones para redes de estación y de proceso, técnicas de control de tráfico, sincronización de tiempo y redundancia. Este trabajo presenta los beneficios técnicos y económicos de diferentes etapas del ciclo de vida para activos de control y protecciones, y los retos a futuro de las subestaciones digitales cuando se aplica el estándar IEC 61850The automation systems for electrical substations plays a fundamental role in the operation of electrical power systems, since they provide the control and supervision mechanisms of the electrical variables of these systems. Over time, these systems have had great variations and technological advances that allow the design and implementation of more robust, reliable, safe and economical SAS systems. One of the greatest advances over substation systems is standardization. With the IEC 61850 standard, the implementation of modern technologies has been made feasible, standardizing the language between users and manufacturers, making systems interoperable and easily expandable, with a final benefit of cost reduction and increased reliability. This work details this standard, its purpose, its parts, its application and advantages. One of the applications of this standard are digital substations, which maximize the benefits of the systems; This work presents a technical-economic proposal for the application of a digital substation, in a real application case, setting out its technical considerations, communications network architecture for station and process networks, traffic control techniques, time synchronization and redundancy.
