(Texto tomado de la fuente)With the boom of e-commerce, urbanization and population growth, the complexity of the last mile in the supply chain has increased, forcing companies to evaluate new distribution strategies and face new logistical challenges. Coordination mechanisms appear as a solution to cope with the challenges of last-mile. Studies related to coordination mechanisms in the last mile of the supply chain have been influenced by the absence of practical applications, reflecting a need for considering supply chain actors, their roles, and the needs of the chain in order to avoid inefficient diagnoses in the application of coordination mechanisms. A three-phase methodology is proposed to identify the determinants that affect last mile logistics through coordination mechanisms. In the first phase, the determinants that influences coordination mechanisms are identified through a literature review and are subsequently validated by industry and academia to select those that have more weight in the application of coordination mechanisms. In a second phase, the level of incidence of each determinant is measured to finally, in the third phase, propose a coordination mechanism to improve the performance of the supply chain according to the levels of incidence found. The proposed methodology is evaluated in a company in the city of Mosquera. This research highlights the need to identify the existing determinants within the company and how well they fit into the supply chain strategy. The results of our study are useful for logistics practitioners evaluate the fitting of a coordination mechanism and their logistical needs. Additionally, for scholars, it shows how coordination can be applied in industries in a developing economy and what are the challenges to adjust coordination with the context of these companies.
