El tama o y las áreas de inserción de los músculos en el disco abdominal sugieren que el mecanismo de succión es pasivo, o sea, sin la acción constante de los músculos.The abdominal disc of Atelopus tadpole is a complex structure, which includes three welldefined regions with several muscles and ligaments attached to its internal surface. It is hypothesized that the disc has two mechanisms of attachment to the substrate, namely, friction and suction.
