Description
Summary:This paper seeks to review and describe the state of the art of using quantitative methods applied to the design of the management of warehouses and distribution centers, with the purpose of identifying research opportunities and establish approaches to modeling. To achieve the objective, methods are covered, such as analytical methods, heur istics, metaheuristics, discrete simulation, experimental design, among others. Finally, we reviewed the state of the art, the research identified the opportunity of using discrete simulation and experimental design and methods to support the design of war ehouse management, since the former is capable of and to represent, analyze and evaluate policies, considering operations and resources under uncertainty. For its part, the experimental design , including planning and execution of statistical experiments for determining factors that impact the performance of the logistics process, and eliminates the need for empirical experiment for reliable analysis.
