(Texto tomado de la fuente)Aging can affect vision, causing visual clarity to decrease. While eye exams and glasses are helpful, adequate lighting is crucial for daily activities, especially for the elderly who need lighter due to visual impairment and possible eye disease. In addition to the quantity of light, quality is vital to compensate for changes in vision and maintain well-being, enjoyment and safety. Currently, many lighting systems have fixed emission and do not consider physiological and emotional needs, which can disrupt circadian rhythms and affect health. Therefore, adaptive lighting design that promotes a healthy and comfortable environment is essential, especially for those who spend a lot of time indoors. This document proposes two lighting solutions for hospice centers for the elderly, comparing technical and economic results and integrating natural and electric light to create a pleasant environment. For this purpose, first, the lighting requirements established in the Technical Regulations for Lighting and Public Lighting (RETILAP) under Resolution 40150, adapted from the normative scheme EN 12464-1:2022, associated to the activities and environments of the place to be evaluated, are used; secondly, the guidelines and recommendations determined by the WELL v2 standard are put into practice, so that the proposal called integrative lighting design includes not only the luminotechnical assessment, but also determining aspects in each modeled space that positively impact the health and well-being of the occupants. Additionally, the importance of finding a balanced scheme of natural and electric light is analyzed, being this crucial to improve health and well-being, especially in environments for the elderly, since the lack of natural light can generate significant negative effects. However, it will be necessary to focus more studies on the specific psychological and therapeutic effects of lighting for each need and not on a generalized solution.
