Summary:We evaluated a technique of micropropagation in a thornless variety of blackberry (Rubus glaucus) from shoot apical meristems. In the establishment phase, we evaluated a disinfection protocol: soapy solution (commercial detergent and water) for 5 minutes + 70% alcohol for 2 minutes + 3% hypochlorite with two different exposure times: T1 for 5 minutes and T2 for 10 minutes. While the microcuttings were disinfected, the meristematic shoots were removed and established in vitro in a completely random design to evaluate two cultivation mediums: M1 and M2. From the developed seedlings, the multiplication was performed in three cultivation mediums: M1, M3 and M4. The two disinfection treatments were 100% effective on each of the explants. The planted apex meristem allowed the establishment of aseptic cultivation and adequate development of the explants after six weeks of cultivation with rates of germination of 83.4% for M1 and 66.6% for M2. The analysis of variance (ANOVA) and multiple range test with Fisher's method (LSD), showed that M1 medium favored multiplication with a better growth and development of the explant with a multiplication coefficient of 7.5 shoots per seedling, and an average height of 1.95 cm.
