The article points out —in concordance with the proposal of Stathis Kalyvas- that social representativeness of the contending parties is endogenous to the civil war and cannot be used as a previous criterion for its identification. The concealment of the Colombian civil war portrays the intention of exculpating the elites and the society.El argumento básico del artículo controvierte la idea de que la baja representatividad social y los motivos interesados de los actores armados los descalifican como actores políticos. Se apoya en la distinción schmittiana amigo/enemigo para argumentar que una guerra civil es —con independencia de los motivos de las partes- siempre política en la medida en que la intensidad de la enemistad anteponga el animus belli al animus furandi. Señala —en concordancia con el planteamiento de Stathis Kalyvas- que la representatividad social de las partes es endógena a la guerra civil y no puede ser usada como criterio previo para su identificación.
