This study explores the way students face the new qualitative evaluation system and their views on alternative assessment as a way to help them make headway with their English learning process.En una institución educativa privada dedicada a la lengua y la cultura inglesas en Colombia, se incorporó un sistema de evaluación cualitativo para ayudar al estudiante a alcanzar sus metas de aprendizaje. Este sistema plantea desafíos a los estudiantes que nunca han sido evaluados con un modelo sin exámenes escritos y, como consecuencia, tienen que desarrollar una serie de habilidades para entenderlo.
