Thus,I conclude by providing a definition of ConstructiveUniversalism, showing the influences it draws from theEuropean context, but also emphasising the originalityof the style. I also present briefly the development ofthis artistic programme after the artist left Paris andestablished in Uruguay, and its influence upon LatinAmerican art.El propósito de este artículo es examinar en detalle la formulación y el desarrollo del Universalismo Constructivo de Joaquín Torres-García. De este modo, presentoy analizo la interpretación y apropiación de Torres-García del Cubismo, el Neoplaticismo y el Surrealismo, las principales fuentes de inspiración de supersonal visión del arte. Concluyo con una definición del Universalismo Constructivo en la cual muestro las influencias que toma del contexto Europeo, pero también enfatizo la originalidad de este estilo.
