The conclusion is made by highlighting the peculiarity of postmodern civil wars like La Violencia and El Conflicto and the importance of quantitative studies to contribute with other visions of the civil wars in Colombia.El artículo busca complementar la literatura cualitativa sobre las guerras civiles colombianas con una comparación cuantitativa de las mismas. A partir de una definición operacional la guerra civil, se identifican diez guerras civiles y se exponen variables relacionadas con la duración, severidad y tamaño de los poderes armados.
