Description
Summary:The article intends to complement the qualitative literature on the Colombian civil wars with a quantitative comparison of them. From an operational definition of civil war, ten civil wars are identified, and variables related with the duration, severity and size of the armed powers are presented. The conclusion is made by highlighting the peculiarity of postmodern civil wars like La Violencia and El Conflicto and the importance of quantitative studies to contribute with other visions of the civil wars in Colombia.
