Resumen El artículo parte de Das Unheimliche y las visiones que establece Freud sobre Hoffmann para establecer el sentido de “lo siniestro”. Los artistas aquí elegidos forman dos parejas muy singulares y pertenecen a dos generaciones europeas diferentes: unos inician sus obras antes de la Segunda Guerra Mundial y otros, mucho más tarde, pero tienen obsesiones comunes (la muñeca, los ojos mutilados, el vértigo, el temor y el erotismo). Sobre el tejido simbólico freudiano entablan un fecundo diálogo Hans Bellmer (1902-1975) y Unica Zürn (1916- 1970), Annette Messager (1943) y Christian Boltanski (1944). On the trail of the uncanny Abstract This paper intends to elucidate the meaning of “the uncanny” based on “Das Unheimliche” and Freud’s research on Hoffman. The artists under consideration form two particular groups and belong to two different European generations; some started their works before the Second World War, others much later, but all of them have common obsessions (dolls, mutilated eyes, vertigo, fear and erotism). Hans Bellmer (1902-1975) and Unica Züm (1916-1970), Annette Messager (1943) and Christian Boltanski (1944) hold a fruitful dialog on the Freudian symbolic tissue. Sur la trace de l’inquiétante étrangeté Résumé Das unheimliche et les regards posés par Freud sur Hoffmann pour établir le sens de “l’inquiétante étrangeté” constituent le point départ de cet article. Deux artistes qui conforment deux couples très particuliers appartenant à deux générations européennes différentes sont appelés. Certains ont commencé ses travaux avant la deuxième guerre mondiale et d’autres beaucoup plus tard mais ils sont tous obsédés par la poupée, les yeux mutilés, le vertige, la crainte et l’érotisme. Ils entament un dialogue fécond sur le tissu symbolique freudien: d’une part Hans Bellmer (1902-1975) et Unica Zürn (1916-1970), d’autre part Annette Messager (1943) et Christian Boltanski (1944).
