Las características evaluadas fueron: tamaño mínimo de la madurez sexual, tamaño de la postura, el patrón fenológico, las tasas de sobrevivencia y el tamaño poblacional. El tamaño mínimo de la madurez sexual estimado a partir de análisis macroscópico y microscópico de las gónadas de ejemplares de colección fue de 25.6 mm de LRC para las hembras y de 16.6 mm para los machos. El tamaño medio de la postura fue de 37.5 folículos yemados por hembra. El patrón reproductivo, las tasas de sobrevivencias y el tamaño poblacional se evaluó en once eventos bimensuales de muestreo en cuatro localidades con alturas diferentes sobre un trayecto altitudinal del Nudo de los Pastos, sur de Colombia, entre noviembre de 2012 y noviembre del 2014 en dos parcelas de 20 x 20 m. Se encontró machos y hembras reproductivas durante todos periodos de muestreo, sin embargo, el mayor número de jóvenes se registró entre febrero y mayo indicando la época de reclutamiento y un patrón de reproducción estacional. El patrón reproductivo presentó una tendencia similar en las cuatro localidades, sin embargo, en la localidad de menor altitud, las abundancias fueron bajas en todas las clases de estado. Los modelos que más se ajustaron a los historiales de captura permitieron establecer que en todas las localidades las tasas de sobrevivencia fueron diferentes entre clases de estado y a través del tiempo, excepto en la localidad de mayor altitud donde la sobrevivencia solo dependió de las clases. El tamaño poblacional fue diferente entre las localidades, con un menor tamaño en el borde de menor altitud. Estos resultados permitieron identificar cambios en las características reproductivas y en los parámetros demográficos en los bordes de distribución altitudinal, sugiriendo una respuesta de Pristimantis unistrigatus a las condiciones ambientales locales.The purpose of this work was to establish whether some of the life history characteristics of the Andean direct development frog Pristimantis unistrigatus change at different elevations within its range of altitudinal distribution, to try to understand the role of the lower and upper boundaries in the altitudinal distribution of the species. The characteristics examined were, minimum size at sexual maturity, clutch size, reproduction phenology, survival rates and population size. The minimum body size (SVL) at of sexual maturity estimated from macroscopic and microscopic analysis of the gonads of collection specimens was 25.6 mm for females and 16.6 mm for males. The average clutch size was 37.5 yolking follicles per female. The reproduction pattern, survival rates and population size were evaluated in eleven bimonthly sampling events in four localities with different elevations over an Andean transect (include the range) at the Nudo de los Pastos in southern of Colombia, between November 2012 and November 2014, in two plots of 20 x 20 m. Breeding male and females were found during all sampling periods, however, the largest number of juveniles was recorded between February and May indicating the time of recruitment and a pattern of seasonal reproduction. The reproductive pattern was similar in the four localities, however in the lower altitude locality, the abundances were low in all stage classes. The best fitted models showed that in all the localities the survival rates were different between stage classes and varied over time, except in the highest elevation site where survival was associated only to stage class. Population size was different between the localities, with a smaller size on the edge of lower altitude.
