The available psychophysical tests are mainly produced in the United States and Europe, and their application is limited to countries that share their cultural background. Objective: to develop a validated, rapid, cost-effective and reliable psychophysical olfactory identification for the colombian population between 18 and 80 years of age. Materials and methods: an olfactory test (POC) was designed with 12 odors recognizable by the general population, based on a Likert-type scale survey. It was applied in a fourth level hospital to subjects with and without olfactory alterations to obtain normal values and quantify completion time. It was repeated between 30 to 120 days with a proportion of participants to assess reliability, and against the Cross Cultural Smell Identification Test (CC-SIT) to validate with the international standard. Results: the 12 odors had a recognition rate greater than75% and the average application time was 392.82 seconds. A value lower to 8 was the cutoff to identify olfactory dysfunction. Reliability and correlation with CC-SIT were acceptable, with a Cronbach’s alpha of 0.824 and Cohen´s kappa coefficient of 0.85. Its sensibility and specificity were 87.5% and 97.5%, respectively. Conclusion: The POC is a useful tool for the diagnosis of olfactory disorders in colombian population, comparable to the international standard.Especialidades MédicasEspecialista en Otorrinolaringología42 páginas sin enumerarapplication/pdfspaUniversidad Nacional de ColombiaBogotá - Medicina - Especialidad en OtorrinolaringologíaFacultad de MedicinaBogotá, ColombiaUniversidad Nacional de Colombia - Sede Bogotá610 - Medicina y salud::617 - Cirugía, medicina regional, odontología, oftalmología, otología, audiologíaTrastornos del Olfato/diagnósticoAnosmiaTécnicas y Procedimientos DiagnósticosOlfaction Disorders/diagnosisAnosmiaDiagnostic Techniques and ProceduresTrastornos olfatoriosPrueba diagnósticaIdentificación olfatoriaVersión colombianaCC-SITOlfactory disordersDiagnostic testOlfactory identificationColombian versionCC-SITConstrucción de una nueva prueba psicofísica olfatoria de identificación para la población de Bogotá D.C. del Hospital Universitario Nacional de Colombia, entre 2020 y 2022Development of a new smell identification psychophysical olfactory test for Bogotá D.C. population at National University Hospital of Colombia between 2020 and 2022Trabajo de grado - Especialidad Médicainfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisinfo:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersionTexthttp://purl.org/redcol/resource_type/TMBiremeCho SH.
