Se diseñó de manera que fuese autocontenido, en el sentido de que los elementos de control univariado necesarios para la comprensión de los principios básicos se incluyen de forma que la temática multivariada se pueda abordar sin ningún prerrequisito. Muchos de los procesos en la industria o en el sector de servicios dependen de diversas variables que usualmente están correlacionadas, y su correcto manejo aumenta la precisión en el control de procesos. El manejo univariado sigue siendo importante, pero es necesario tener en cuenta las características multivariadas, cuando sea del caso, y por ello se pretende dar en el texto una visión práctica que permita la implementación y el uso de las cartas de control T2 multivariadas. Así las cosas, el texto va dirigido al usuario que quiera aprender a utilizar las técnicas, así como también a estudiantes avanzados de pregrado y de posgrado en Estadística e Ingeniería que pretendan hacer investigación aplicada en el área.
