Starting from this considerations, it can be shown how Jacob Burckhardt 's reflections about history, in breaking with certain conception of history and with certain kind of historiography, take distance from the distinctive features of classicism.Este ensayo tiene por objeto esbozar algunos elementos significativos del ideal clásico, modelo que había  predominado en la estética desde su surgimiento como disciplina filosófica y en la historiografía del arte a través de los conocidos estudios de Joachim Winckelmann.
