This paper investigates the incidence of access to credit on the formalization and growth of microbusinesses in Colombia. Employing data from the DANE Microbusiness Survey (EMICRON) for the 2019-2022 period, the study utilizes Propensity Score Matching alongside binary choice Probit and Logit models to analyze this relationship. The findings reveal that access to credit plays a critical role in facilitating the growth and formalization of these businesses across the four dimensions outlined in CONPES 3956: entry, inputs, production, and taxation. Further analysis, differentiating between credit granted by formal and informal entities, demonstrates that micro-businesses with access to formal credit exhibit a higher propensity for formalization and experience more pronounced growth compared to those relying on informal credit sources.Maestríaviii, 60 páginasapplication/pdfspaUniversidad Nacional de ColombiaBogotá - Ciencias Económicas - Maestría en Ciencias EconómicasFacultad de Ciencias EconómicasBogotá, ColombiaUniversidad Nacional de Colombia - Sede Bogotá330 - Economía::332 - Economía financieraE26 Informal Economy • Underground EconomyG32 Financing Policy • Financial Risk and Risk Management • Capital and Ownership Structure • Value of Firms • GoodwillO16 Financial Markets • Saving and Capital Investment • Corporate Finance and GovernanceO17 Formal and Informal Sectors • Shadow Economy • Institutional ArrangementsR51 Finance in Urban and Rural EconomiesAcceso a créditoMicronegociosFormalidad empresarialCrecimiento empresarialCrédito informalPropensity score matchingCredit accesMicrobusinessBusiness formalityBusiness growthInformal creditCréditoPequeña empresaCrecimiento económicoCreditSmall enterprisesEconomic growthIncidencia del acceso al crédito en el crecimiento y la formalidad de los micronegocios en ColombiaIncidence of credit access on the growth and formality of microbusiness in ColombiaTrabajo de grado - Maestríainfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisinfo:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersionTexthttp://purl.org/redcol/resource_type/TMColombiahttp://vocab.getty.edu/page/tgn/1000050Acevedo, M. & Ángel, A.
