(Texto tomado de la fuente)OBJECTIVE: To analyze the process of medical innovation, from the perspective of neo-institutional evolutionary economics. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Method proposed by researchers from The University of Manchester and the studies of thematic areas were used in the development of innovations in health: Computed Tomography (CT), Ultrasonography (US) and Cochlear Implant (IC). Databases used were ISI-Web of Knowledge (ISI-WoK) and SCOPUS. The pioneering article was located and the literature limited to subsequent years was systematically reviewed. The programs Excel Node XL, Pajek wiki and Ucinet were used to process the information. RESULTS: Networks of thematic areas and institutional co-authorship were obtained in the first years of the development of the CT, and thematic areas networks from first years of US and IC. Measures of centrality and structural holes of the networks obtained were analyzed. CONCLUSION: the innovation and diffusion of medical technologies are characterized by the use of the emerging properties of the Health Innovation System, with inter and intradisciplinary feedback (medicine, physics and engineering) and between institutions (university hospitals, universities, companies, research centers and scientific communication media). This is consistent with the historical approach of Rosemberg and with the studies of the Manchester Group. The study of the thematic areas and SNA using measures of centrality and structural holes allow to analyze the processes of medical innovationDoctoradoDoctor en Ciencias Económicas133 páginasapplication/pdfspaUniversidad Nacional de ColombiaBogotá - Ciencias Económicas - Doctorado en Ciencias EconómicasEscuela de EconomíaFacultad de Ciencias EconómicasBogotá, ColombiaUniversidad Nacional de Colombia - Sede Bogotá330 - Economía::336 - Finanzas públicasComputed TomographyUltrasonographyCoclear ImplantKnowledge Network in medicineHealth InnovationEvolutionary EconomicsInnovación científicaTecnología médicaScientific innovationsMedical technologyEstudio de la innovación médica, desde la economía evolutiva neo-institucional, utilizando herramientas bibliométricas y del análisis de redes sociales (ARS)Study of medical innovation, from the neo-institutional evolutionary economy, using bibliometric tools and social network analysis (SNA)Trabajo de grado - Doctoradoinfo:eu-repo/semantics/doctoralThesisinfo:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersionhttp://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_db06Texthttp://purl.org/redcol/resource_type/TDRedColLaReferenciaAcemoglu, D., & Finkelstein, A.
