Modelación de la elección de la terminal aeroportuaria entre dos aeropuertos cercanos/ Modeling of the airport terminal choice of two nearby airports

Esta investigación presenta los resultados de una encuesta de preferencias declaradas en un experimento de elección discreta, diseñado para examinar la elección de la terminal aeroportuaria entre dos aeropuertos cercanos en Medellín. En la actualidad un pasajero que parte de la ciudad de Medellín, tiene la opción de viajar a un destino determinado por alguno de los dos aeropuertos, el José María Córdova (JMC) o el Enrique Olaya Herrera (EOH), lo importante es determinar cuáles son las principales razones que llevan a la escogencia de la terminal aeroportuaria. Las encuestas de preferencias declaradas fueron aplicadas en las salas de espera de cada aeropuerto y se evaluaron los destinos Bogotá y Cali, los cuales son rutas comunes partiendo de cada aeropuerto. Otro de los aspectos importantes fue que la encuesta estuvo dirigida a habitantes del Valle de Aburrá, esto con el fin de que se tuviera claro la existencia de dos aeropuertos en el área; se plantearon dentro de la encuesta 9 escenarios diferentes y cada aeropuerto fue representado en términos del costo del tiquete, costo del desplazamiento a cada terminal aeroportuaria y tiempo que tarda el usuario en llegar al aeropuerto. En el desarrollo de la encuesta se tuvieron en cuenta variables como sexo, edad, ocupación, viajes que realiza al año por trayecto, motivo del viaje, ingresos, estrato socioeconómico, medio de transporte empleado para llegar al aeropuerto, equipaje, tiempo de reserva, tipo de aeronaves en que se prefiere viajar, quién paga el tiquete, quién escoge el aeropuerto, número de acompañantes, y número de maletas. Se realizaron un total de 200 encuestas, 120 para usuarios con destino Bogotá y 80 para usuarios con destino Cali, se obtuvo un total de 1080 observaciones para el destino Bogotá y 720 datos para Cali. Partiendo de esto se construyeron 2 bases de datos para la obtención del modelo por destino; para cada uno de estos se obtuvieron modelos logit multinomial y logit mixto, aplicando los test estadísticos utilizados en la elección de los modelos se escoge para el destino Bogotá como para Cali un modelo multinomial como el mejor. En el modelo encontrado para el trayecto Medellín – Bogotá, las variables que influyen en la elección del aeropuerto José María Córdova son el costo del tiquete, el costo de llegar a cada terminal, el tiempo de viaje al aeropuerto, el sexo, la edad y el tipo de aeronaves en los que se prefiere viajar; mientras que para el aeropuerto Enrique Olaya Herrera, aparte de las variable evaluadas en la encuesta de preferencias declaradas intervienen las variables medio de transporte para llegar al aeropuerto, el tiempo de reserva y el motivo del viaje./Abstract. This investigation presents the results of a survey on stated preference discrete choice experiment designed to examine the choice of the airport terminal between two nearby airports in Medellin. Currently a passenger of the city of Medellin has the option of traveling to a destination determined by either of the Jose Maria Cordova – JMC airport or Enrique Olaya Herrera - EOH, the important thing is to identify key parameters that lead to the choice of the airport terminal. Stated preference surveys were developed in the waiting rooms of each airport and destinations Bogota and Cali were assessed, which are common routes based on each airport. Another important aspect was that the survey was aimed at people in the Aburrá Valley, this in order that they had clear the existence of two airports in the area. In the survey was raised 9 different scenarios and each airport was represented in terms of the cost of the ticket, cost of travel to each airport terminal, and time it takes to reach the airport. In developing the survey, it took into account variables such as sex, age, occupation, year trips made each way, purpose of travel, income, socioeconomic status, means of transport used to arrive at the airport, luggage, reservation time, preferred type of aircraft to travel, who pays the ticket, who chooses the airport, number of companions and number of bags. There were a total of 200 surveys, 120 to users bound for Bogotá and 80 to Cali, were obtained a total of 1080 observations for the destination Bogotá and 720 for Cali, based on these, are built 2 databases to obtain the model by destination for each of these models; for each one of these destinations were obtained models multinomial logit and mixed logit, applying the statistical tests used in the choice of models for the destination is chosen for both destinations multinomial model as the best one. In the model found for the journey Medellin- Bogota, the variables that influence the choice of Jose Maria Cordova airport are the cost of the ticket, the cost of reaching each terminal, the travel time to the airport, sex, age and the type of air craft in which they prefer to travel, while for the Enrique Olaya Herrera airport, away from the variable evaluated in the stated preference survey are involved the variables transportation to the airport, the time of booking and the reason for the trip. For the destination Cali was found that the influential variables in the model obtained for the JMC are the cost of the ticket, the cost of reaching each terminal, the travel time to the airport and the stratum of the individual; for EOH the influential variables are backup time, the purpose of travel and type of air craft in which they prefer to travel, this without counting the variables evaluated in the survey, which are also significant. The subjective value of time for the two destinations evaluated has a high value this indicates that people who use air transportation mode have high income making it easier to access this mode of transport which is expensive Then the hypothesis fulfilled that each way evaluated has different behavior, this statement is based on the elasticities presented at the end of the investigation
