(Texto tomado de la fuente)Background: COVID-19 pandemic derived from the SARS-CoV-2 infection, have been particularly important in the elderly given their high vulnerability and high morbidity, which generated a huge impact in terms of morbidity, mortality and disability in this population. Objective: The study is focused on describing the clinical and sociodemographic characteristics in an inpatient elderly population in a post-acute care unit after being hospitalized with COVID-19 Patients and methods: This is a descriptive retrospective study. We did the analysis of the sociodemographic and clinical variables of the hospitalized patients 60 years or older admitted to the Clínica Sociedad de Enfermeras Profesionales with the previous confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 between January 1 of 2020 and December 31 of 2021. Results: A total of 41 patients were included. 65% of patients were male them were men with a mean age 69,6 years. Cardiovascular comorbidities affected 68% of patients, 41% of them had previous pulmonary disease, 34% were affected by type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. The most prevalent complications during the stay in the intensive care units were a severe pneumonia and the acute respiratory distress syndrome which affected 100% of patients. 100% of the patients were admitted with total functional dependency, at discharge 36% of them had better functional performance compared to the beginning of the study. The mortality incidence rate was 10,8 per 100 persons/month. None of the person which recovered their functionality died Conclusion: Elderly people which are admitted to post-acute care units after being hospitalized with COVID-19 showed high morbidity, disability and mortalityEspecialidades MédicasEspecialista en GeriatríaEstudio observacional retrospectivo y descriptivo.xvii, 52 páginasapplication/pdfspaUniversidad Nacional de ColombiaBogotá - Medicina - Especialidad en GeriatríaDepartamento de Medicina InternaFacultad de MedicinaBogotá, ColombiaUniversidad Nacional de Colombia - Sede Bogotá610 - Medicina y salud::614 - Medicina Forense; incidencia de lesiones, heridas, enfermedades; medicina preventiva públicaInfecciones por CoronavirusMorbilidadCoronavirus InfectionsMorbidityAncianoCOVID-19SARS-COV-2Cuidado posagudoRehabilitación geriátricaCOVID prolongadoPosCOVIDElderlyCOVID-19Post-Acute CareGeriatric rehabilitationProlonged COVIDPOSTCOVIDCaracterización de adultos mayores en una unidad de cuidado post agudo de alta complejidad tras ser hospitalizados por COVID-19 en la ciudad de BogotáA descriptive study of hospitalized elderly in a high complexity post-acute care unit after COVID-19 hospitalization in BogotaTrabajo de grado - Especialidad Médicainfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisinfo:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersionTexthttp://purl.org/redcol/resource_type/TMRedColLaReferenciaSabe Colombia.
