There are so many possible applications that it is believed that we are at the beginning of a new technological revolution. In this paper, we try to explain the importance of outreach and educational activities in science in general, and nanoscience in particular. We also briey discuss some activities being undertaken by the Thematic Network \Jose Roberto Leit" Outreach and Education in Nanotechnology, NANODYF (www.nanodyf.org) belonging to the Thematic Area 6 Science and Society, of the Ibero-American Science and Technology Development Program, CYTED.La Nanociencia es el estudio de estructuras de tamaño entre 1 y 100 nanómetros, llamadas nanoestructuras, las cuales, debido a sus pequeñas escalas de tamaño se comportan de manera diferente a la materia a escalas micro y macroscópicas. Estas nuevas propiedades de los materiales permiten la fabricación de nuevos productos y tecnologías. Son tantas las posibles aplicaciones que se habla de una nueva revolución tecnológica. En este trabajo, tratamos de explicar la importancia de la divulgación y la formación científica y en particular la de la nanociencia.
