description Es conocido que el proceso de selección, adquisición e implementación de un CASE (Computer Aided Ingeniería de Software) herramienta en una organización es un proceso complejo. Fundamentalmente el impacto de un herramienta no es simplemente el producto de sus propiedades inherentes, sino que también depende de la naturaleza de la Proceso de desarrollo de Sistemas de Información (SI) y su organización. Con base en: (a) lo anterior y el soporte proporcionado por las herramientas CASE para el desarrollo de SI, (b) el gran cantidad y variedad de estos últimos que están presentes en el mercado, (c) las características de los organizaciones que desarrollan su propio SI y, (d) la importancia estratégica de la selección de un Herramienta CASE para el desarrollo de SI de acuerdo con las necesidades de la organización específica. Este trabajo propone y discute la aplicación a una muestra significativa de SI venezolano - unidades de desarrollo, una serie de indicadores organizacionales, con su correspondiente medición variables, que ofrecerán una forma cuantitativa de comparar diferentes herramientas CASE de la desde el punto de vista organizacional, según las características propias de una unidad desarrolladora de SI en cualquier contexto organizacional y país.

Fundamentally the impact of a tool is not simply the product of its inherent properties but also depends on the nature of the Information Systems (IS) development process and the organization thereof. Based on: (a) the foregoing and the support provided by CASE tools for the IS-development, (b) the large quantity and variety of the latter which are present in the market, (c) the characteristics of the organizations which develop their own IS and, (d) the strategic importance of the selection of a CASE tool for the IS-development according to the needs of the specific organization.
