description Los acrocordones son tumores fibroepiteliales comunes en la dermis y están asociados con factores como la predisposición genética, diabetes mellitus, acromegalia, obesidad y síndrome metabólico. La posible relación entre los acrocordones y los pólipos del colon (PC) ha generado controversia, destacándose la sobreexpresión del IGF-1 y polimorfismos del gen IGF-1 como posibles vínculos fisiopatológicos. Realizamos un estudio transversal en la Fundación oftalmológica de Santander – Fosunab, evaluando 210 sujetos, encontrando una prevalencia de acrocordones del 49% y de pólipos del colon del 16.7%. Aunque la asociacion no fue estadisticamente significativa entre los pólipos del colon y los acrocordones, se observó una relación entre los acrocordones y obesidad abdominal, antecedentes de enfermedad cardiovascular, sugiriendo la resistencia a la insulina como un denominador común. El estudio resalta la necesidad de investigaciones futuras sobre la conexión y relevancia clínica de estas condiciones.

The possible relationship between skin tags and colon polyps (CP) has generated controversy, highlighting the overexpression of IGF-1 and polymorphisms of the IGF-1 gene as possible pathophysiological links. We carried out a cross-sectional study at the Santander Ophthalmology Foundation – Fosunab, evaluating 210 subjects, finding a prevalence of skin tags of 49% and colon polyps of 16.7%. Although the association was not statistically significant between colon polyps and skin tags, a relationship was observed between skin tags and abdominal obesity, history of cardiovascular disease, suggesting insulin resistance as a common denominator.
