La hiperplasia prostática benigna (HPB) es un diagnóstico histológico de proliferación de músculo liso y células epiteliales en la zona transicional. Tiene una prevalencia del 50% en hombres de 50 años y hasta 80% a los 80 años. La principal manifestación clínica son los síntomas del tracto urinario inferior (SUOB), alcanzando una prevalencia de 45.2%. La resección transuretral de próstata (RTUP) se consideró el Gold estándar en próstatas de bajo volumen (< 80 cc) y para próstatas de alto volumen (> de 80 cc) fue la prostatectomía abierta (PA), con altas tasas de efectividad y un margen aceptable de seguridad. En la actualidad, existen alternativas endoscópicas con tecnología Láser (Holmium, Green laser, Thulium). En la población colombiana, no se cuenta con datos de efectividad de una técnica frente a otra en pacientes en próstatas de alto volumen. El objetivo del estudio es analizar la efectividad, costos y desenlaces de los pacientes sometidos a procedimientos endoscópicos Laser vs abierto. |

Tiene una prevalencia del 50% en hombres de 50 años y hasta 80% a los 80 años. La principal manifestación clínica son los síntomas del tracto urinario inferior (SUOB), alcanzando una prevalencia de 45.2%. La resección transuretral de próstata (RTUP) se consideró el Gold estándar en próstatas de bajo volumen (< 80 cc) y para próstatas de alto volumen (> de 80 cc) fue la prostatectomía abierta (PA), con altas tasas de efectividad y un margen aceptable de seguridad. En la actualidad, existen alternativas endoscópicas con tecnología Láser (Holmium, Green laser, Thulium). En la población colombiana, no se cuenta con datos de efectividad de una técnica frente a otra en pacientes en próstatas de alto volumen. It has a prevalence of 50% in men aged 50 years and up to 80% at the age of 80 years. The main clinical manifestation is lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), reaching a prevalence of 45.2%. Transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) was considered the Gold standard in low-volume prostates (< 80 cc) and for high-volume prostates (> 80 cc) it was open prostatectomy (OP), with high effectiveness rates and an acceptable margin of safety. Currently, there are endoscopic alternatives with laser technology (Holmium, Green laser, Thulium). In the Colombian population, there is no data on the effectiveness of one technique versus another in patients with high volume prostates.
