Samuel, desconcertado pero sin otras opciones, acepta la invitación. Durante el desayuno, el misterioso hombre, que pronto revela ser la Muerte en forma humana, le presenta a Samuel una visión desconcertante: debe aceptar la muerte de su abuela y superar el duelo que lo atormenta. Sin embargo, la Muerte le revela que Samuel no está en un simple hospital, sino en el She'ol, un lugar intermedio entre la vida y la muerte.
