In order to eliminate or reduce the effects caused by formation damage
a recommendable option is the application of matrix stimulation treatments. These treatments are generally designed from mineralogical and petrophysical information
and characteristics of formation damage. A proper design helps to ensure that treatment fluids are compatible with formation minerals and act removing the damage. For wells which produce hydrocarbons from the Villeta Formation
it is not possible to design matrix stimulation treatments conventionally
because the necessary information is incomplete
since Villeta Formation was not the initial objective of the wells. These wells were drilled and completed to produce from Caballos Formation; later
Villeta Formation was perforated in the same wells and put into production. Matrix stimulation treatments applied in Villeta Formation were initially designed taking into account damage mechanisms evidenced during production and results in other wells with similar characteristics. From these treatments previously applied
analyzing their effects on the production of each well
and considering recommendations of established guides for selection of stimulation fluids
some matrix stimulation treatments were determined and recommended with the aim of expanding the stimulations to more wells in order to reduce formation damage in the Villeta Formation. Determined and proposed fluids
for matrix stimulation of Villeta Formation
were those that showed good results in the stimulations that were evaluated in this work and that correlating with fluid selection guides
presented similarities in their application parameters.
