universities in Colombia have focused much of their efforts on the establishment and operation of systems research

many of its mechanisms seem not to have more influence in some areas of knowledge. Such is the case of research activity in the field of music and in general of Fine Arts
where low rates compared to other research areas are presented. Given this problem
the need to investigate the factors that lead to university professors of music research activity
based on the understanding of the dynamics own field of knowledge of the arts. In order to recognize the factors that contribute to the inclination of teachers of music research activities was used a methodology of quantitative-qualitative
for which
under the macro project
a questionnaire was drawn up and a semistructured interview script. The information and analysis presented below are part of the ongoing investigation "Analysis of incentives for academic production of the musicians university professors" approved by the Vice-Rector for Research and Extension of the Industrial University of Santander
developed by research groups "A Tempo" from the School of Arts and Studies in Applied Microeconomics and Regulation "EMAR" School of Economics and Management.
