Los sólidos fueron utilizados como catalizadores en la síntesis de 2-metil-1,2,3,4,-tetrahidroquinolinas con rendimientos de reacción de hasta 34,9% para la 2-metil-4-(2-oxopirrolidin-1-il)-1,2,3,4-tetrahidroquinolina (producto 1) y 61,4% para la 1-(1-(p-toliamino)etil)pirrolidin-2-ona (producto 2), usando el catalizador HCl/NH4Cl-P. Los productos fueron caracterizados por métodos espectroscópicos (IR, RMN) y el producto 2 fue caracterizado por difracción de rayos X de monocristal. El producto 2 cristaliza en un sistema monoclínico con grupo espacial P21/c y parámetros de celda a=11,589(1), b=9,4056(7), c=12,6135(8), =117,061(6) y empaqueta en forma de cadenas helicoidales que crecen a lo largo del eje b, formando un motivo de cintas oscilantes que se extienden paralelas a las cadenas helicoidales.
