Summary:The new unit of pillow lavas outcropping in the Nogontova area (Covarachía, Boyacá) and San Jose de Miranda (Santander), western flank of the Cordillera Oriental, is formed of basalts with porfidic and vesicular texture, with microcrystals of plagioclase and clinopyroxen embedded in an intergranular microlithic vitrophyric groundmass. The age of this unit is estimated to range from Late Triassic to Jurassic.
