An interpenetrated network consists in the combination of two different polymeric networks
without covalent bonding between them. Thus
it is possible a physical mixture that contains the crosslinked polymers. This kind of polymers is synthesized by the simultaneous
sequential crosslinking or sequential semi IPNs of two different systems that allows the formation of materials that exhibit properties of both components. The poly(isopropyl acrylamide) (PNiPAam) is a thermosensitive polymer and the [poly(2-acrylamido-2-methyl-1-propanesulfonic acid)] (PAMPs) exhibit high hydrophilic capacity. It is possible to synthesize interpenetrated and semi interpenetrated hydrogels using as a polymeric matrix
biodegradable hydrogels from polyglycerol
crosslinked with citric acid and oleic acid loading a novel material with a mixture of the properties of each one of its components. Interpenetrated polyglycerol hydrogels were synthesized from PNiPAam and PAMPs in this work. The formation of the network and their structure was confirmed by FT-IR spectroscopy. This reaction was controlled with the influence of UV light using a photoinitiator in an isolated from natural light reactor. There were made variance analysis to determinate de influence of the components in the obtained properties. In addition
their swelling behavior was tested at different pHs (1.68
7.01
and 10.01). Interpenetrated and semi interpenetrated polyglycerol hydrogels were obtained with features of their polymeric networks. It was observed that the presence of IPNs and semi IPNs influences the deformation and recovery capacity of synthesized hydrogels.
