Description
Summary:ABSTRACT: The opinion surveys are not, in fact, another thing that a way to investigate. Particularly, they are a method - or a set of methods or techniques destined to obtain data about some aspect of the social reality. Understood, then, like strategy of investigation of social phenomena, the opinion survey well he is quite recent, because its use systematic and controlled (and successful) dates from the inter-war period of century XX. The practical reasons that they took to his development and implementation go beyond the precise practical needs that they gave rise to him, the survey had not been possible without the theoretical and methodologic developments sustain that it. Since it has been indicated, the survey is the application of certain methodologic and statistical procedures for the obtaining of information on the social reality. Here it must be indicated the importance of North American sociology, incarnated in important theoreticians and investigators like Paul Lazarsfeld and famous George Gallup. The sprouting of the survey as we know today it, understood as a tool of registry of the public opinion has like bottom motivations and antecedents, the old dream of the prophecy: the desire of being able to know what it will happen (Karl Popper).
