Resumen: Me propuse reconocer las representaciones sobre las mujeres en la obra Una habitación propia de Virginia Woolf. La metodología está inscrita en el paradigma interpretativo, mediante el enfoque hermenéutico, que permite circunscribirse a las palabras de la autora y al contexto en el que fue escrito, así como en el que es leído. Inscrito en la investigación cualitativa, conlleva un tipo de investigación documental donde el texto es escuchado como un fenómeno social. La técnica investigativa hace uso de la lectura intratextual y extratextual. Construí cuatro categorías: en la primera, di cuenta de cómo Woolf señala que a través del tiempo ha existido la necesidad de nombrar a las mujeres como inferiores para inscribirlas en un lugar limitante. En segundo lugar, encontré que haberlas despojado del tener las situó en el lugar conveniente a la organización social imperante, por lo cual Woolf hace un llamado al tener material y desde otros ámbitos. Como tercera categoría Woolf ayuda a desentrañar cómo el producto de las escritoras, hasta el siglo XIX, refleja y queda marcado por las carencias materiales e inmateriales. En la cuarta categoría muestro cómo Virginia ofrece vías de salida a las escritoras desde el tener. En su texto, Virginia Woolf se ocupa de rastrear la historia de las mujeres, señalar las consecuencias del no tener en la historia, para finalmente indicar un presente y un horizonte donde la propuesta que les hace es tener, de manera enfática, desde la escritura. |

Embedded within an interpretive paradigm, the methodology follows a hermeneutic approach, facilitating adherence to the words of the author as well as to the contexts where those words were written and are read. Based on a qualitative research approach, a documentary research is performed, through which the text is acknowledged as a social phenomenon. Intratextual and extratextual reading were used as research techniques. Four categories emerged: The first reports on Woolf’s observation of the need that has existed throughout time to call women inferior to keep them in a confined space. The second unveils evidence that stripping women of ownership placed them in a position convenient to the prevailing social structure, reason why Woolf calls for both material and other types of ownership by women. In the third category, Woolf helps to unravel how, up until the 19th century, the works of female writers reflected and were marked by material and immaterial deprivation. The fourth category shows how, from ownership by women, Virginia provides female writers exit routes.
