Se evaluó la frecuencia de alteración cognitiva según el MOCA y la correlación con variables potencialmente relacionadas con alteración cognitiva. Resultados: 44.9% (n=44) de los pacientes con migraña inter-ictal presentaron resultado anormal del MOCA. La depresión (p=0.001) se relacionó con tener un MOCA anormal. No se observó diferencia en el resultado del MOCA respecto a la edad, deterioro cognitivo subjetivo, cronicidad, escala de MIDAS o HIT6, ansiedad, aura, frecuencia e intensidad de cefalea o uso de preventivos. Conclusiones: El presente estudio incluyó el mayor número de pacientes con migraña en fase inter-ictal a quienes se les haya evaluado y reportado el MOCA en el mundo; casi el 45% presentaron deterioro cognitivo según el MOCA. La depresión podría estar relacionada con un MOCA anormal. |

Evidence of cognitive impairment in the interictal period shows contradictory results. We aim to describe the results of the MOCA test in patients with migraine in the interictal phase. Methods: An ambispective cross-sectional study was conducted on 98 patients with migraine, in inter-ictal phase, in three headache consultation institutions between 2019 and 2022. We assessed the frequency of cognitive impairment according to the MOCA and the correlation with variables potentially related to cognitive impairment. Results: 44.9% (n=44) of patients with interictal migraine had an abnormal MOCA result. Depression (p=0.001) was related to having an abnormal MOCA. No difference in MOCA score was observed with respect to age, subjective cognitive impairment, chronicity, MIDAS or HIT6 scale, anxiety, aura, headache frequency and intensity or use of preventive medication. Conclusions: The present study included the largest number of patients with interictal phase migraine who have had their MOCA assessed and reported in the world; almost 45% had cognitive impairment according to MOCA.
