RESUMEN: La seguridad del paciente tiene por finalidad disminuir el riesgo de generar daño en los procesos de atención en salud, para lo cual se vale de la implementación de protocolos y estrategias tendientes a la prestación de un servicio más seguro. Los servicios odontológicos se encuentran directamente implicados en el desarrollo de la cultura y lineamientos de seguridad del paciente, dado que su praxis está conformada por un gran número de procedimientos que generalmente implican la presencia de riesgos latentes, para los cuales se adaptaron múltiples estrategias de prevención basadas en la identificación y análisis de eventos adversos. Objetivo: Identificar las principales estrategias relacionadas con la seguridad del paciente en los servicios odontológicos. Metodología: Se realizó una búsqueda de literatura utilizando como fuente registros referentes de tipo digital, que ayuden a estructurar y definir un marco teórico, referencial y legal con visiones globales, regionales a nivel de Latinoamérica y nacionales. Resultado: Se encontró que la seguridad del paciente en servicios odontológicos es un aspecto clave en la calidad, y que se encuentra en auge pues gracias a los análisis de los eventos adversos, se han desarrollado estrategias para prevenir estos mismos. |
