An effective argument was denounce the lack of proper christianization and spanish permissiveness respect to prehispanic beliefs involving the devil. This reveals two opposite views of the world, society and religious universe, expressed through indigenous reactions against the actions of the encomenderos.

Las declaraciones de algunos indios de Antioquia ante el oidor Herrera Campuzano (1614-1616), dejan ver su apropiación de la visita como forma de control sobre los encomenderos. Un argumento efectivo fue denunciar la deficiente cristianización indígena y la permisividad española frente a creencias prehispánicas que incluían al diablo.
